I would like to see the debate broadened to include the independent candidates and individual representatives of the varied groups.

I have noticed for the first time in the history of Guyana, a debate was organized in Georgetown with the potential candidates. This was a success, and debates of this nature should not be limited to the city alone.

While the 90-minute debate itself for the March 18 municipal election in Georgetown was lauded as groundbreaking, the fact that no female was on stage was on the lips of many.

The six political groupings vying for the 15 proportional representation (PR) seats on the Georgetown City Council last evening presented their plans for the management of the capital at the first ever Georgetown Debate.
