“Safety for everyone involved will be our paramount concern,” Slighting added. “We will still adhere to all state, local and federal social distancing rules. So, we will have candidates separated by at least six feet in the studio space and we will have no audience at the event.”

The questions — submitted by the Montana Farmers Union — formulated around a wide variety of topics surrounding Montana such as farming, agriculture, climate change, healthcare and the economy.

The Democratic and Republican gubernatorial primary candidates debated virtually Saturday on agriculture and rural issues, each facing off against their respective party members.

The Appalachian hosted a debate on Zoom between the student body presidential candidates. All presidential and vice presidential candidates were invited. Michael Davis, Devin Mullins and Karolyn Martin participated.

In line with social distancing protocol, the Associated Students Presidential Debate was conducted through a Zoom conference call on March 24, as candidates took the virtual stage from their respective homes.

The location of the debate was moved from Phoenix to Washington, D.C, amid concerns over the virus, and there will be no live audience.In addition, one of the original planned moderators, Jorge Ramos of Univision, stepped back from his role after potentially being exposed to the virus.
