It may be hard to believe — does it feel as if we haven’t had a chance to see the candidates square off against each other? — but the biggest change in presidential primaries over the past decade is the dramatic reduction in the number of debates.

Why not Minnesota? As a Super Tuesday state without a lot of delegate weight, “Minnesota, I guess, hasn’t really been all that important in the primary process,” Kondik said. “It’s not a huge delegate prize.”

The moderators: There were two big problems here. One was that this was a complete free-for-all for much of the debate, with candidates talking over one another and with no one enforcing the rules. Playing loose can work when it means the candidates actually debate, but many times on Tuesday night

“We’re looking forward to hearing from the people who know about the upcoming elections in Michigan, the U.S. Census and the presidential debate scheduled in Ann Arbor in October,” said Paula D. Cunningham, State Director of AARP Michigan.

The Democratic National Committee has set up a page for the public to apply for tickets to the March 15 presidential debate in Phoenix, though the location and time of the event have not been announced.

Officials representing the U. and the Utah Debate Commission asked members of the Utah Legislature’s Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee for $1.5 million to help cover security and other costs of hosting the event on Oct. 7 in Kingsbury Hall.

President Trump on Wednesday said he would debate the eventual Democratic presidential nominee, putting to rest, at least temporarily, questions about whether he would take part in general election debates.

That’s where UM’s Debate Steering Committee and Debate Core Teams come in. The 19-member steering committee has been engaging with students and the university community to develop events that can take place ahead of and surrounding the Oct. 15 debate at the Crisler Center.

It has eliminated the requirement that candidates must have received donations from hundreds of thousands of individuals. Mr. Bloomberg, a multibillionaire, is running a self-funded campaign and is not soliciting donations.

Though the presidential debate to be hosted at the University of Michigan is nine months away, Central Student Government held its third presidential debate town hall Monday night in Pierpont Commons to discuss student engagement, inclusion and safety.
